I have apparently lived on another planet for discovering so late this amazing eyewear brand with long and significant history....
Claire Goldsmith is the greatgranddaughter of one of the most influential modern eyewear creators - Oliver Goldsmith. Who is actually the one that created the sunglasses style with the TV screens back in 1967 and the "Love me style" in 1979. Some of the iconic styles created long ago:
Claire re-introduced some of the most iconic and timeless in their design vintage sunglasses styles from the 1940s till the 1980 starting back in 2005 and now has her own collection of amazing classy frames.
I happened to find this Irwin style for which I totally fell in love so I digged deeper and found out a great quality brand.
The frames are all handmade and the company is still using the traditional methods and classic vintage acetates which they've collected for years. They work with craftsmen in England and some in Italy - the country that basically created eyewear and still has the most highly experienced craftsmen, and some in Japan where technology leads the way, and others in Germany where precision and excellence is standard says the company.
Prices are about 350€ more or less depending on the style, but I'm sure it pays back.
I'm totally getting this style, but first I'll check it out in London next week where in Notting Hill the company has their official store and showroom where you can see the complete Oliver Goldsmith and Claire Goldsmith collections as well as access to any of the hundreds (500) rare and classic vintage designs held in a private lounge. You can choose any style from the 40s till the 80s and get it re-created for you.
